Nicaragua's Vice-President, Rosario Murillo has announced that Saturday and Sunday, September 14-15, 2019, would be non-working public holiday (feriados nacionales obligatorios) in Nicaragua to mark the annual non-working public holidays commemorating the Battle of San Jacinto and Nicaragua's Independence Day public holiday.
As happened 6 years ago (2013-09-14), the aforementioned announcement by Vice-President Murillo invokes Article 68 of the Nicaraguan Labour Code, which states that holidays that fall on Sundays are either financially compensated, or an alternative date is given, to declare Monday and Tuesday, September 16 and 17, 2019, as compensatory public holidays in Nicaragua.
