Romania's Senate has approved a bill which would oblige the Romanian Government to announce, no later than January 15, all the one-off public holidays it intended to declare for the year.

The aforementioned bill follows a year of multiple last-minute declaration of one-off public holidays in Romania (2018-12-18, 2018-08-02, 2018-04-12, 2018-03-12, 2018-02-28 and 2018-02-25), though in such cases the one-off non-working public sector holidays are usually compensated (2013-12-13, 2013-08-14, 2012-11-28 and 2012-04-26).
