Sri Lanka's Ministry of Public Administration and Home Affairs has published in the "Gazette of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka" (No. 2118/23), its annual official list of the Sri Lankan Poya Day non-working public holidays in Sri Lanka for the upcoming calendar year 2020.
As usual (2018-05-14, 2017-04-01, 2016-03-27, 2015-10-06, 2014-04-07, 2013-04-12 and 2012-04-24), the aforementioned announcement of Sri Lankan Poya Day public holidays for the upcoming calendar year 2020 ("By virtue of the powers vested in me by Section 8 of the Holidays Act, No. 29 of 1971, I, Wajira Abeywardane, Minister of Internal and Home Affairs and Provincial Councils and Local Government, do by this order,declare that, as regards the year 2020, each of the days specified in the Schedule hereto shall be Full Moon Poya Days for the purpose of this Act") will be completed at a later date by the announcement of the non-working public holidays for the calendar year 2020 in Sri Lanka (2018-07-01, 2017-07-24, 2016-05-22, 2015-05-29, 2014-06-15 and 2013-07-05) and, at a yet later date, by the announcement of the list of bank holidays in Sri Lanka (2018-08-27, 2017-09-07, 2016-10-19, 2015-08-04, 2014-11-14 and 2013-10-18) for the coming year 2020.
As per the Holidays Act, Section 2., Declaration regarding Full Moon Poya Days and Sundays, (Volume IV - Laws of Sri Lanka) "It is hereby declared that every Full Moon Poya Day and every Sunday - (a) shall be a public holiday; and (b) shall be a Bank holiday".
