Switzerland Mulls December 8 Neuchâtel Public Holiday

A member of the legislative assembly of the Swiss Canton of Neuchâtel, Cédric Dupraz, has proposed declaring December 8 as a new annual non-working public holiday in the Swiss Canton of Neuchâtel, to coincide with the annual World Climate Day.

In his submission to the Neuchâtel grand council, Cédric Dupraz pointed out that the Swiss canton of Neuchâtel currently observes fewer regional public holidays than the Swiss federal public holidays legislation allows, and that many other cantons are already observing a public holiday on December 8, albeit on account of the Immaculate Conception, rather than on account of World Climate Day.
