Tongan Prime Minister Pōhiva Tuʻiʻonetoa has issued a statement announcing that the Tongan Cabinet had approved, yesterday, his proposal to declare a one-off public holiday in Tonga, on November 15, 2019, "in recognition of the outstanding and historical achievement made by the Tonga Invitational XIII Rugby League Team at the Oceania Cup 2019 against Great Britain Lions and Australian Kangaroos".

Last week (2019-11-06), we had reported that Tongan Prime Minister Pōhiva Tuʻiʻonetoa publicly had announced a one-off public holiday in Tonga, on Friday, November 15, 2019, "to celebrate last Saturday’s historic Test triumph over the Kangaroos", as he congratulated Tonga coach Kristian Woolf, captain Jason Taumalolo and the players and staff for their 2 recent wins, and is once again (2019-09-15).

The November 15 public holiday will be in addition to Tonga's Ministry of Information and Communications communiqué announcing the official list of non-working public holidays in Tonga for the calendar year 2019, released early this year (2019-01-10), and with the terms of the "Public Holidays (Amendment) Act 2010" (Act No. 10 of 2010) which amended the public holidays legislation of Tonga (2010-05-19 and 2010-04-08).
