The Governor of the US Virgin Islands, Albert Bryan Jr., has declared one-off additional public sector holidays in the US Virgin Islands to be observed as public sector holidays in the US Virgin Islands on the occasion of Christmas 2019 and New Year 2020.

The aforementioned declaration of 4 one-off additional public sector holidays in the US Virgin Islands, on December 24 and 31, 2019, and January 2 and 3, 2020, is in addition to the list of of non-working public holidays in the US Virgin Islands for the calendar year 2019, as released last year (2018-12-01).

The announcement of additional public sector holidays is a staple of the US Virgin Islands' calendar of non-working public holidays (2017-12-25, 2016-12-20, 2016-11-18, 2015-04-25, 2014-12-22, 2011-12-20, 2010-12-28, 2006-12-21, 2005-12-06, 2004-12-22, 2003-12-17, and 2002-12-16), though such declarations of additional public holidays in the US Virgin Islands had become more rare in the past couple of years, until Kenneth Mapp became Governor of the US Virgin Islands.
