The General Administration Department of the State Government of India's state of Assam has declared a half-day public holiday on Thursday, November 26, 2020, as a mark of respect for the former Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi, who died earlier this week ("As a mark of respect to the departed soul, the Govt. of Assam has declared half holiday at 1 pm on the day of cremation on 26th November 2020").
Today's announcement further extends (2020-11-11 and 2020-11-07) the list of Assam 2020 public holidays which was released late last year (2019-12-01), in the Government Notification No.GAG(A).81/2016/494).
