Bangladesh's Cabinet Secretary, Khandker Anwarul Islam, has announced that the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha (Feast of Sacrifice) public holidays of Bangladesh would not be extended beyond the usual 3 days for government officials ("The three-day Eid holiday won’t be extended further and no one can leave their respective workplaces or headquarters during the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha").

The aforementioned announcement, probably in response to the string of Covid-19 public holidays in the spring (2020-05-27, 2020-05-13, 2020-05-02, 2020-04-23, 2020-04-10, 2020-04-03, 2020-03-23), is in line with the official list of 2020 non-working public holidays in Bangladesh, as contained in the DFIM Circular Letter of the Ministry of Public Administration, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh (2019-11-25 and 2019-10-29).

It does, however, represent a departure from the common practice of extending the 3-day Eid-ul-Azha public holidays to adjoin a nearby weekend (2019-08-02, 2017-08-23, 2016-09-05, 2015-09-15, ...).
