Following Belize's People's United Party winning its first national election since 2003, the Minister of Home Affairs of the newly-formed government of Belize, Kareem Musa, has gazetted proposed changes to the previously-announced list of 2021 Belize public holidays.
The aforementioned amendments to the 2021 public holidays in Belize, almost certain to pass when the legislature reconvenes on January 5, will thus amend the list of 2021 public holidays, as released last summer (2020-06-15), in line with the First and Second Schedule to the Holidays Act, Chapter 289 of the Laws of Belize, Revised Edition 2000-2003.
The amended list of 2021 public holidays adds 2 public holidays; one on January 15 (George Price Day) and one on August 2 (Freedom Day), while cancelling the Pan-American Day public holiday held in October until 2020 (2019-07-23).
The amendments to the list of Belize public holidays will be tabled in the House of Representatives, at its next sitting, on Friday, January 8, 2021.
