The Governor's Office of the Cayman Islands has confirmed that the next general elections would be held on Wednesday, May 26, 2021.

The Public Holidays Law (2007 Revision) states that public holidays shall include "the day appointed under the Elections Law for the taking of the poll at a general election in the Islands" (2007-06-19) and this was later confirmed to include the date of any referendum in the Cayman Islands (2012-05-14, 2012-05-08, 2012-04-13, 2012-02-27, 2009-10-24, 2008-12-01, 2008-07-13, 2008-06-23, 2008-06-18).

It is not clear, yet, if the postponed, December 19, cruise harbor referendum (2019-12-09, 2019-11-26, 2019-10-10, 2019-10-03), will be observed on that same date, to "combine both the logistics and the expense".
