Costa Rica's Ministry of Labour (Ministerio de Trabajo y Seguridad Social - MTSS) has announced that Thursday to Saturday, April 9-11, 2020, would be non-working public holidays in Costa Rica to commemorate Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, as well as Juan Santamaría Day.
Legislation passed by the Abel Pacheco administration specified that, among others, the April 11 (día de Juan Santamaría) public holiday would move to the following Monday, whenever its fixed observance date fell mid-week (2005-03-17).
But the provisions of that law were slowly unraveled over the subsequent years, and five years later, the aforementioned April 11 public holiday was reset to a fixed date non-working public holiday (2010-10-06) and maintained as such (2016-04-07).
