The Minister for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations, Youth and Sports, of the Government of Fiji, Parveen Kumar, has issued a reminder that the upcoming "Fiji Day public holiday was gazetted for Saturday, 10th October, 2020 as provided for under the Employment Relations (Administration) Regulations 2008".
The aforementioned announcement that the upcoming Fiji Day public holiday is to be observed on Saturday, October 10, 2020, goes on to state that "Monday, the 12th of October is a normal working day", and is in line with the "Gazette Notice 78 dated Friday 6th September, 2019", which lists the dates of official non-working public holidays in Fiji for the calendar year 2020, as approved by the Governing Cabinet of Fiji and released by Fiji's Ministry of Information, a year ago (2019-09-11).
Apparently the statement by the Minister for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations, Youth and Sports was prompted "due to the increased number of queries received by the Ministry on the issue".
