Guatemala's Ministry of Labour and Social Security (Mintrab) has published the Acuerdo Gubernativo Número 182-2020, signed by Guatemalan President, Alejandro Giammattei, and declaring a one-off public sector holiday in Guatemala on Monday, November 2, 2020 ("el Gobierno de Guatemala concedió licencia con goce de salario el 2 de noviembre a servidores públicos de las entidades centralizadas y descentralizadas").
The aforementioned declaration of a public sector holiday in Guatemala on Monday, November 2, 2020, also signed by the minister of labour, Rafael Rodríguez, is meant to be a compensation for the annual November 1st public holiday of Guatemala falling on a Sunday, in 2020 ("se tomó la decisión porque la Ley de Servicio Civil determina que uno de los días de asueto con goce de salario es el 1 de noviembre"), and thus further amends the list of 2020 Guatemala public holidays, originally announced last autumn (2019-11-17), but then amended a first time, this past spring (2020-04-16), when Guatemala's Constitutional Court issued a ruling removing the May 1st and October 20 public holidays from the scope of the 2018 Law of Internal Tourism, a change which took effect immediately.
