Earlier this morning, the Ministry of the Interior of the Government of Honduras declared Tuesday and Wednesday, November 17 and 18, 2020, as non-working public holidays in Honduras on account of the Iota tropical storm ("Se trata de una suspensión porque estamos en emergencia nacional, muchos tienen que evacuar porque viven en zonas de riesgo, planteamos la suspensión para que la gente haga sus diligencias para salvar sus vidas").

The aforementioned announcement, made on the recommendations of the Permanent Contingency Commission (Copeco), signed by Leonel Ayala, the Minister of the Interior, comes on the heels of the declaration of Thursday and Friday, November 5 and 6, 2020, as non-working public holidays in Honduras on account of the Eta tropical storm (2020-11-04), as well as the earlier modification of the dates of the upcoming Semana Morazánica public holidays (2020-11-04).
