Isle of Man 2022 Public Holidays To Be Discussed in House of Keys

The agenda of next Tuesday's House of Keys of the Isle of Man contains a question from the MHK, Jason Moorhouse, to the Treasury Minister, Alf Cannan, as to the number of public holidays planned in the Isle of Man for the calendar year 2022.

The list of annual bank holidays and of the non-working public holidays in the Isle of Man for the calendar year 2021 were only recently announced by the Isle of Man Treasury Finance (2020-10-06) and the official list of 2022 public holidays in the Isle of Man is not expected until next autumn.

Presumably, the scheduled question as to the number of 2022 public holidays in the Isle of Man, follows from the recently-announced extra Platinum Jubilee public holiday on Friday, June 3, 2022, to mark Queen Elizabeth's 70th anniversary on the throne, combined with a shift of the 2022 spring bank holiday to Thursday, June 2, 2022, as announced by the UK's culture secretary, Oliver Dowden (2020-11-12) and followed upon by Scotland (2020-11-26).

A decade ago, on the occasion of the Queen's Diamond Jubileee, the Isle of Man declared a 4-day weekend around Tynwald Day and the Queen's Diamond Jubileee (2010-09-10), as per the Bank Holidays (Amendment) Order 2010 and the Bank Holiday (Her Majesty the Queen's Diamond Jubilee) Order 2010. That additional day off, took place on Friday, July 6, 2012, following the annual Tynwald Day public holiday on Thursday, July 5, 2012.
