The Commissioner of the Administration of Union Territory of Ladakh has finally announced its own list of the days which will be non-working public holidays in Ladakh for the current calendar year 2020 ("In modification of previous order No. 17 LA(GAD) of 2019 dated: 26th December, 2019 the following holidays shall be observed in the Calendar Year 2020").
The aforementioned "List of holidays for the calendar year-2020" is contained in the Union Territory of Ladakh General Administration Department Government Order No: 23-LA(GAD) of 2020, Dated 19/03/2020, which finally implements a list of 2020 public holidays in the Union Territory of Ladakh, as separate from the list of 2020 public holidays in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir as contained in the Jammu and Kashmir Government Order No.251-JK(GAD) of 2019, Dated 27.12.2019 (2019-12-28).
Recall that, on October 31, 2019, the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir was split into 2, as the new Union Territory of Ladakh was carved out of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, in a manner similar to the creation of Telangana as the 29th state of India on June 2, 2014, having itself been carved-out the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh (2015-05-31).
The Union Territory of Ladakh General Administration Department Government Order No: 23-LA(GAD) of 2020 contains 4 Annexures; Annexure A "Public Holidays To Be Observed Throughout The UT Ladakh During The Calendar Year 2020", Annexure B "Local Holidays For Union Territory Of Ladakh Administration", Annexure C "Restricted Holidays For Union Territory Of Ladakh Administration", and Annexure D "Closed Holidays For Banks To Be Observed During The Calender Year 2020 Under Negotiable Instrument Act, 1881".
Each of these 4 Annexures features the mention that "All the Muslim Holiday are subject to change depending on appearance of moon.".
The Union Territory of Ladakh had already made its first independent declaration of a public holiday, on account of Guru Gobind Singh Ji's Birthday, earlier this year (2020-01-01).
