The Commissioner Secretary of the Administration of Union Territory of Ladakh has declared January 2, 2020, as a public holiday in the recently-created Union Territory of Ladakh ("It has been decided to declare Thursday, the 2nd January, 2020, as public holiday on account of Guru Gobind Singh Ji's Birthday, for all Government Offices including Banks throughout UT Ladakh.").
The aforementioned "Declaration of Holiday on 2nd January 2020 - Birthday of Guru Gobind Singh Ji" is contained in the Union Territory of Ladakh General Administration Department Government Order No: LA(Order)UTL/2019(06), Dated 01-01-2020, signed by Commissioner Rigzian Sampheal, thus amends the still standing Jammu and Kashmir Government Order No.251-JK(GAD) of 2019, Dated 27.12.2019 (2019-12-28) containing the list of 2020 public holidays in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Recall that, on October 31, 2019, the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir was split into 2, as the new Union Territory of Ladakh was carved out of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, in a manner similar to the creation of Telangana as the 29th state of India on June 2, 2014, having itself been carved-out the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh (2015-05-31).
A separate list of 2020 public holidays in this newly created Union Territory of Ladakh, has not yet been issued.
