The State President of the Purvottar Sanskritik Sansthan community, Thakur Jagdish Singh, has called on the government of India's State of Madhya Pradesh to declare a public holiday on account of the Chhath festival ("Chhath Mahaparva is now not just a festival of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. This festival has taken a national form and even now the popularity of Chhath festival has spread throughout the world").
The aforementioned declaration of Friday, November 20, 2020, as a public holiday in Madhya Pradesh on account of the upcoming Chhath festival would further amend (2020-10-24 and 2019-12-27) the list of the days which were to be non-working public holidays in India's State of Madhya Pradesh during the calendar year 2020, as announced by the Government of India's State of Madhya Pradesh, late last year (2019-12-12).
Note that other Indian states have also declared additional state public holidays on account of the current Chhath festival, most notably the Delhi NCT (2020-11-17) and the state of Jharkhand (2020-11-18).
