The government of the Maldives' Ministry of Islamic Affairs has declared Sunday, May 24, 2020, as Eid al-Fitr (the End of Ramadan), as no reliable moon sightings were confirmed across the country, last night ("The Maldives will observe the last day of Ramadan on May 23, with Eid-al-Fitr commencing the day after, on May 24").
The Eid al-Fitr public holidays of the Maldives, for the calendar year 2020, had been extended, when the President Office's Spokesperson, Ibrahim Hood, initially released the list of public holidays in the Maldives for the calendar year 2020 (2019-12-12).
However, this year, the upcoming End of Ramadan public holidays in the Maldives are drowned in the current running Covid19 public holidays, initially covering March 19-26, 2020 (2020-03-18), then April 16-30, 2020 (2020-04-15), then May 2-14, 2020 (2020-04-30), and most recently May 15-28, 2020 (2020-05-15).
