Omani authorities have announced dates for the upcoming 2020 Eid Al Fitr (End of Ramadan) non-working public holidays in Oman, for both the Omani public sector and the private sector of Oman.
In all cases, the public holidays for the private and public sectors of Oman, will begin on Ramadan 29, Saturday, May 23, 2020.
However, the parity between the private and public sectors, for the duration of the upcoming Eid holidays, will depend on the date of the 1st day of the month of Shawwal.
If the 1st of Shawwal falls on Sunday, May 24, 2020, "then the holiday will end on Tuesday, 3 Shawal 1441 AH, corresponding to 26 May 2020", for both the Omani private and public sectors, as was the case for the past 7 years (2019-05-28, 2018-06-09, 2017-06-18, 2016-06-27, 2015-07-13, 2014-07-21 and 2013-08-08), when the same dates were declared for both the private and public sectors of Oman.
However, if the 1st of Shawwal falls on Monday, May 25, 2020, then "the holiday will end on Thursday, 4 Shawal 1441 AH, corresponding to 28 May 2020", for the private sector, while for the public sector, "work shall be resumed on Sunday, 31 May 2020", harkening back to the more distant past, when the public sector of Oman benefited from more public holidays than the private sector (2012-08-12 and 2011-08-24).
