The Government of Singapore has announced that the upcoming general election will be held on Friday, July 10, 2020, a date which will be a one-off non-working public holiday in Singapore, as per section 35 of the Parliamentary Elections Act, Polling Day.

The Government of Singapore usually declares a one-off public holiday on the dates of Singapore general elections (2015-08-25 and 2011-04-19), as well as presidential elections (2017-08-28 and 2011-08-03), but not for by-elections (2016-04-21 and 2012-05-10).

The aforementioned declaration of a public holiday in Singapore on Friday, July 10, 2020, will be in addition to, and therefore amend, the official list of 2020 non-working public holidays in Singapore, as announced last spring (2019-04-08).
