The Sri Lankan government has extended the March 16, coronavirus public holiday, mercantile holiday and bank holiday, throughout Sri Lanka, to cover March 17-18-19, 2020, as well.

Last weekend (2020-03-14), the Sri Lankan Minister of Public Adminstration, Janaka Bandara Tennakoon, had already announced that Monday, March 16, 2020, had been declared a public holiday, mercantile holiday and bank holiday, throughout Sri Lanka, "to prevent the spread of coronavirus".

These 2 announcements thus amend the official list of Sri Lankan public holidays and bank holidays for the calendar year 2020 as announced last year (2019-10-05 and 2019-06-10).
