Sri Lanka Banks' Association, via the Sri Lankan Minister of Home Affairs, Wajira Abeywardena, has released its annual list of the official bank holidays in Sri Lanka for the upcoming calendar year 2021, in line with, but, as always expanding upon the official list of annual Sri Lankan public holidays for the upcoming calendar year 2021, as published this past summer.

As was the case in the past (2019-10-05, 2018-08-27, 2018-02-27, 2016-10-19, 2015-08-04, 2014-11-14, 2013-10-18, 2012-10-16, 2011-10-10, 2011-08-31, 2010-07-21, 2010-07-12 and 2009-07-06), the aforementioned list of 2021 bank holidays follows the summer's announcement, in the "Gazette of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka" (No. 2181/22), of the 2021 public holidays in Sri Lanka (2020-06-27), which itself followed the announcement of the Full Moon Poya Days in 2021 (2020-06-09).

As usual, the list of 2021 bank holidays in Sri Lanka adds 2 additional half-day bank holidays for some non-Poya public holidays falling on a Saturday or Sunday, although the current list contains an error in the date announced for the second half-day bank holiday in 2021 ("Half a day Special Bank Holiday (In lieu of Christmas Day which falls on a Saturday)").
