Thailand’s Ministry of Culture has proposed to the Thai Government’s Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA), that the previously-postponed April 2020 Songkran Thai public holidays, be observed in July 2020, either from July 4-9, in conjunction with the Asarnha Bucha holidays, or later in the month, near the July 28 date for the public holiday marking the birthday of King Wachir Rongkorn.
Earlier this year, after briefly entertaining the notion of extending the 2020 Songkra public holidays of Thailand (2020-02-18), as had been done for the preceding 2 years (2019-02-13, 2019-01-30 and 2018-02-27), Thailand's then announced that the April 13-15 Songkran Thai public holidays, would be postponed to a later, unspecified date (2020-03-16), thus amending the previously-released list of 2020 public holidays in Thailand (2019-07-31).
A later recommendation by Thailand's Government’s Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) that the May 2020 public holidays also be postponed (2020-04-27), was eventually rejected by Thailand's Cabinet (2020-04-28).
