The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation of the UAE has announced a three-day period of public holidays in the UAE on account of the upcoming UAE Commemoration Day and the 49th UAE National Day public holidays, from Tuesday to Thursday, December 1-3, 2020.

Earlier today (2020-11-22), the UAE's The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources announced public sector holidays in the UAE for the same Commemoration Day and National Day public holidays to run from Tuesday to Thursday, December 1-3, 2020, stating that "work will resume on Sunday, 6 December", as weekends in the UAE were changed for Thursday/Friday to Friday/Saturday, almost 15 years ago (2006-08-15 and 2006-05-31), for the public sector principally.

Despite the fact that the UAE's public sector weekends are not totally matched by the private sector, since 2019 (2019-03-05), the UAE's public holidays are the same for the private and public sectors, contrary to the years before (2018-01-08, 2017-01-03, 2015-12-26, 2015-01-04, 2014-01-07 and 2012-12-29).
