West Bengal Extends Saraswati Puja Public Holiday

The State Government of India's state of West Bengal has declared a public holiday on Wednesday, January 29, 2020, on account of Saraswati Puja, in addition to the previously-announced date of Thursday, January 30, 2020, for the annual Saraswati Puja public holiday of West Bengal ("Public Holiday in connection with Saraswati Puja, 2020, No. 442-F(P2) Dated, the 27th January, 2020").

The aforementioned announcement ("The State Government had declared holidays on 30th and 31st January, 2020 in connection with Saraswati Puja under this Department Notification No. 5962-F(P2) and 5964-F(P2) both dated 01.11.2019. Now, it has come to notice that Saraswati Puja will also be celebrated on 29th January (Wednesday). In view of this, the State Government has decided to declare holiday on 29th January, 2020 (Wednesday) in addition to already declared 30th and 31st January, 2020, for all State Government offices, Urban and Rural Bodies, Corporations, Undertakings, Educational institutions and other offices/ institutions under the control of the Government of West Bengal with the exception of the Offices of the Registrar of Assurances, Kolkata, the Collector of Stamp Revenue, Kolkata and the West Bengal State Beverages Corporation Ltd") of a non-working public holiday on Wednesday, January 29, 2020, thus amends the previously-released list of West Bengal non-working public holidays for the calendar year 2020 (2019-11-01), as announced in the Department Notification No. 5962-F(P2) and 5964-F(P2).
