The Algerian Direction générale de la Fonction publique et de la Réforme administrative et du ministère du Travail, de l’Emploi et de la Sécurité sociale has announced that Tuesday, January 12, 2021, had once again been declared as a non-working public holiday in Algeria to mark Amazigh New Year (Amenzu n Yenayer).
Today's announcement ("La journée du mardi 12 janvier, correspondant à Amenzu n’Yennayer, jour de l’An amazigh, sera chômée et payée pour l’ensemble des personnels des institutions et administrations publiques, des établissements et offices publics et privés") echoes last year's announcement that Sunday, January 12, 2020, had been declared as a non-working public holiday in Algeria to mark Amenzu n Yenayer, Amazigh New Year (2020-01-07).
The Amazigh New Year was approved as a new annual public holiday in Algeria, by Algeria's Council of Ministers, and then by Algeria's Popular Assembly (APN), a few years ago (2018-03-11, 2018-01-10 and 2017-12-27).
