The Office of the Deputy Governor of the British Virgin Islands has re-issued an amended listing the 2021 public holidays in the British Virgin Islands ("Acting in accordance with Section 5 of the Public Holidays Act (Cap 199), as amended, Cabinet has approved the following public holidays for 2021"), following the recent passage of amendments to the Public Holidays Act (Cap 199).
The list of British Virgin Islands public holidays for 2021 was only announced at the end of last year (2020-12-18), much later than usual (2019-10-01).
The delay was due to the appointment of the Public Holidays Review Committee (2020-07-08), tasked with the review of the list of annual public holidays in the British Virgin Islands, and their method of calculation, basing itself on the recommendations of a similar commission, whose 2001 report laid dormant for almost 20 years (2001-05-18).
The Committee published its draft recommendations in early October, asking for public feedback, before finalizing its recommendations (2020-10-01), and last month (2020-12-18), based on these recommendations, the Office of the Deputy Governor of the British Virgin Islands finally issued the official listing the 2021 public holidays in the British Virgin Islands.
