Cameroon's President, Paul Biya, has issued a decree declaring Monday, August 16, 2021, as a public holiday in the Cameroon on account of the upcoming August 15 annual public holiday for the Assumption falling on a Sunday.
The aforementioned announcement justifies the declaration of Monday, August 16, 2021, as a public holiday in the Cameroon as follows: "lorsqu’une fête légale religieuse est célébrée un dimanche ou un jour férié, le Président de la République peut, par arrêté, déclarer férié non chômé le jour consécutif".
As was done on previous occasions (2021-05-12, 2020-05-23 and 2019-08-09), the President of Cameroon has issued a day in lieu public holiday, thus amending the list of 2021 public holidays in the Cameroon as announced at the beginning of this year (2021-01-18).
