The Government of India's Union Territory of Chandigarh has announced the annual list of the non-working public holidays Chandigarh for the upcoming calendar year 2022 in the Government Notification No. 6/l/l-IH(I)-2021/18568 ("List of Holidays in all Government Offices under the Chandigarh Administration, during the calendar year 2022").

The Government Notification No. 6/l/l-IH(I)-2021/18568, was signed on behalf of Nitin Kuma Yadav, the Home Secretary, Chandigarh Administration.

As per custom (2020-12-18, 2019-12-09, 2018-12-10, 2017-12-17 and 2016-12-08), the list of 2022 public holidays in the Union Territory of Chandigarh begins with the preamble ("It is hereby notified that the Holidays enumerated in the Schedule below shall be observed as Public Holidays in all the Government Offices under the Chandigarh Administration during the calendar year 2022"), and is split between All Sundays, All Saturdays and Other Holidays, on one hand, and 23 Restricted Holidays, on the other hand ("Besides the above holidays, each employee will also be permitted during the calendar year 2022 to avail himself/herself any of two (2) holidays to be chosen by him/her out of Restricted Holidays mentioned below").

Appended to the Government Notification No. 6/l/l-IH(I)-2021/18568 is the Government Notification No.6/ 1/ 1-IH(I)-2021/18569 ("It is hereby notified that the Holidays enumerated in the Schedule below shall be observed as Public Holidays in the Union Territory of Chandigarh during the calendar year 2022 within the meaning of Section 25 of the Negotiable Instrument Act, 1881").

Contrary to the list of public holidays announced in almost all other Indian States and Union Territories, the aforementioned Government Notifications No. 6/l/l-IH(I)-2021/18568 and No. 6/l/l-IH(I)-2021/18569 do not mention any specific holiday falling on a Sunday or on a 2nd or 4th Saturday of the month.
