Ghana's Minister for Interior, Ambrose Dery, has announced that Friday, January 7, 2022, was a statutory non-working public holiday in Ghana ("The general public is hereby informed that Friday, 7th January, 2022 which marks Constitution Day, is a Statutory Public Holiday and should be observed as such throughout the country.").

The new Constitution Day public holiday of Ghana was part of amendments to the Public Holidays Act, which were introduced into Ghana's Parliament, in late December, in late 2018 (2018-12-14), then passed and gazetted a few months later (2019-05-08 and 2019-04-30).

The first observance of the new January 7 Constitution Day public holiday was declared ad hoc in early 2019 (2018-12-28), due to the impossibility of passing the bill before January 7, 2019.
