The Government of Gibraltar has issued the communique 431/2021 which confirms that Gibraltar will follow the United Kingdom and commemorate HM The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee next year with a double Bank Holiday ("This means that Thursday 2 June and Friday 3 June 2022 will both be Bank Holidays and complete four days to mark the occasion together with Saturday 4 and Sunday 5").

Today's communique confirms the terms of the communique 831/2020, released late last year (2020-11-23), and which announced that Gibraltar would mark Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with an extra bank holiday.

The communique 831/2020 followed by a scant 2 weeks, the UK announcement that an extra Platinum Jubilee public holiday would be declared to create a 4-day period of bank holidays (2020-11-12).

Recall that, ten years ago (2011-10-19), on the occasion of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, the Government of Gibraltar had moved the Spring Bank Holiday to Monday, June 4, 2012, and declared a one-off public holiday on Tuesday, June 5, 2012, as per the terms of the "Bank and Public Holidays (No.2) Order 2011" (LN. 2011/189).
