The supervisory body in charge of the banking sector in Guatemala (the Superintendencia de Bancos de Guatemala) has announced that Wednesday, September 15, 2021, had been allowed as a bank holiday in Guatemala, on account of the 200th anniversary of the signing of the act of independence ("para conmemorar los 200 años de la firma del Acta de Independencia del país").

The declaration of Wednesday, September 15, 2021, as a bank holiday in Guatemala, as on other occasions (2021-08-11), is in line with the list of annual bank holidays in Guatemala and afferent rules thereto (2009-12-17) in the "Reglamento de Asuetos de las Instituciones Bancarias que operan en la República (Resolución JM-129-2009)", as well as with the list of official bank holidays for the calendar year 2021 in Guatemala released earlier this year (2020-11-13).
