Jordanian Prime Minister, Bisher Al-Khasawneh, has issued a communiqué declaring a non-working public holiday in Jordan on Tuesday, August 10, 2021, to observe the upcoming Islamic New Year (Hijri New Year 1443).
The aforementioned circular declaring Tuesday, August 10, 2021, as the date of the upcoming Islamic New Year public holiday in Jordan, only mentions "ministries, official departments, institutions and public bodies".
However, the inclusion of the private sector is implicit, as per last year's clarification (2020-10-25) by the spokesperson for the Jordanian Ministry of Labour, Mohammad al-Zyoud ("all official and religious holidays in Jordan include both public and private sectors" and "According to article 59 of the Labour Law, which clarifies the mechanism for making the employer work on his weekly, religious or public holidays, official communications issued for this purpose include private sector institutions without mentioning them in the communications.").
The upcoming Islamic New Year public public holiday in Jordan on Tuesday, August 10, 2021, is in line with the previously-released (2020-10-30), list of annual non-working bank holidays and public holidays in Jordan for the calendar year 2021.
