Kenyan Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Interior, Fred Matiangi, has announced that Monday, December 27, 2021, would be a one-off day in lieu public holiday in Kenya.
As per the aforementioned gazette notice, "In line with the provisions of Section 2 and 4 of the Public Holidays Act (Cap 110), it is hereby confirmed that 27th December 2021 will be a public holiday, by dint of Boxing Day falling on Sunday 26th December 2021.".
Note that Sunday, December 26, 2021, is not a public holiday in Kenya, as the Public Holidays Act of 1984 specifies that "Where, in any year, a day in Part 1 of the Schedule falls on a Sunday, then the first succeeding day, not being a public holiday, shall be a public holiday and the first-mentioned day shall cease to be public holiday".
