Earlier tonight, Mali's Minister of Religious Affairs, after consultations with Mali's Commission nationale d’observation de la lune, announced that Wednesday, May 12, 2021, would be the date of the upcoming non-working public holiday in Mali for the Aïd al-Fitr Public Holiday (End of Ramadan, aka. Seli N'Jitini Kalo in Mali).
The announcement of Wednesday, May 12, 2021, as the 2021 Mali public holiday for the Aïd al-Fitr is an amendment to the list of 2021 public holidays in the Mali (2021-01-18).
Astronomically, the reported sighting of the Moon of Shawwal, earlier tonight, cannot have been correct. This is the fourth consecutive year in which Mali declares its End of Ramadan public holiday earlier than any country, and on a date which is astronomically before the new Moon (2020-05-22, 2019-06-04 and 2018-06-14).
