The Nigerian Ministry of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has declared Monday December 27, and Tuesday December 28, 2021, as well as Monday, January 3, 2022, as public holidays in Nigeria to mark Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year Day, respectively ("Gwamnatin Najeriya ta sanar da ranakun 27 da 28 na watan Disambar 2021 da kuma ranar 3 ga watan Janairun 2022 a matsayin ranakun hutun Kirsimeti hade da ranar dambe ta duniya da na sabuwar shekara").

The aforementioned declaration of 3 year-end day in lieu public holidays in Nigeria, is as expected and in line with past announcements (2020-12-23, 2019-12-19, 2018-12-19, 2017-12-20, 2016-12-23, 2015-12-30, 2015-12-22, 2015-12-17, 2014-12-19, 2013-12-20, 2012-12-17 and 2011-12-21), the main difference with past years being that, after 4 years of making regular public holidays announcements for Nigeria, Abdulrahman Dambazau was replaced as Minister of Interior of the Federal Government of Nigeria, by Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, 2 years ago.
