The Panamanian government has announced that, from 2022 onward, Chinese New Year would be listed as one of Panama's national holidays, "to boost the country's tourism economy and acknowledge the contributions of Chinese-Panamanian to the country's ethnic diversity and multiculturalism".

The aforementioned announcement, made by Panamanian Minister of National Tourism, Ivan Eskildsen, will not affect the list of annual non-working public holidays in Panama (2021-01-05), and Chinese New Year will remain a working day in Panama.
