The Premier of Australia's state of Queensland, Annastacia Palaszczuk, has announced that Friday, October 29, 2021, would be a one-off public holiday in Brisbane, Moreton Bay and Scenic Rim, to compensate the recent cancellation of the Ekka public holiday.

Earlier this month (2021-08-04), the Deputy Premier of Australia's state of Queensland, Steven Miles, had announced that the Royal Queensland Show public holiday, on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, would be canceled, thus amending the list of 2021 Queensland public holidays, as announced at the end of 2019 (2019-11-30).

The 2021 Royal Queensland Show public holiday, was officially canceled ("The day previously appointed has been repealed"), a few days later (2021-08-07).

Last year's Royal Queensland Show was also moved, though only from Wednesday, August 12, 2020, to Friday, August 14, 2020, to adjoin the subsequent weekend (2020-05-21).
