The chair of the Samoan National Emergency Operational Centre, Agaifili Shem Leo, has clarified that the second national vaccination day, on November 19, will not be a public holiday, as was the case for the first vaccination day.
Last September (2021-09-21), the Samoan Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Labour, had announced that on Thursday and Friday, September 23 and 24, 2021, all the public, state owned, enterprises and the private sector businesses would shut down for the then first day of the upcoming vaccination campaign.
Though that announcement did specify that "Please be advised that the two days of closure is NOT treated as a Public Holiday", it did nonetheless represent an amendment to the latest updated list of public holidays in Samoa for the years 2021, 2022 and 2023, as most recently re-released (2021-01-04).
