The Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada (unicameral parliament), has approved, by a vote of 317 out of 362, amendments to Art. 73 of the Labor Code (No. 2325), which amend the name of the annual Day of the Defender of Ukraine public holiday.

Six years ago (2015-03-06), the Verkhovna Rada had voted the declaration of October 14 as a new annual non-working public holiday in the Ukraine to be called the Day of Defender of Ukraine.

The aforementioned amendments to the name of the Day of Defender of Ukraine, as specified in the amendments to Art. 73 of the Labor Code (No. 2325), change the name of the October 14 public holiday to Day of Defenders and Defenders of Ukraine (День защитников и защитниц Украины).
