The State Government of India's state of West Bengal has issued the Government Order No. Labr/714.(20)/(LC-IR)/IR/7S-06/17 (General Elections to West Bengal Legislative Assembly, 2021) which declares a string of public holidays from March 27 to April 29, 2021, to coincide with the upcoming West Bengal Legislative Assembly Election 2021.
The aforementioned Government Order No. Labr/714.(20)/(LC-IR)/IR/7S-06/17 states that "the Election Commission of India has announced the schedule for General Elections to West Bengal Legislative Assembly, 2021, to be held in 8(eight) phases".
The Government Order goes on to state that "It has been made obligatory on the part of the employers of any business, trade, industrial undertaking or any other establishments of the areas under the said Assembly Constituency to grant paid holiday on the day of Poll to their workmen who are entitled to cast vote in the election under the Representation of Peoples Act, 1951".
The initial list of 2021 public holidays in West Bengal was released, last autumn, by the government of India's state of West Bengal, in the Department Notification No. 3100 -F(P2), signed by order of the Governor, by D. That initial list of 2021 public holidays in West Bengal was then amended, late last year (2020-12-01), by the Government Order No. 3361- F(P2) which added two holidays to the list of 2021 public holidays in West Bengal, and again, in January 2021, when the Government Order No. FS-10/2021 declared a new annual public holiday for the birthday of Pandit Raghunath Murmu (2021-01-31).
