Assam Declares June 8 Public Holiday For KAAC Elections

The government of India's state of Assam has declared a regional public holiday on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, in the Karbi Anglong under Koklabari regions of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) on account of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) elections being held on that date.

The aforementioned official notification states that "All the Govt/Non Govt offices, Educational Institutions and Business establishments including Banks, Tea Garden and Industries etc falling under the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council and No. 22 BTC constituency under Bodoland Territorial Council will remain closed on that day.".

The declaration of Wednesday, June 8, 2022, as a public holiday on account of the upcoming KAAC elections, thus further amends (2022-04-26, 2022-04-07, 2022-03-17, 2022-02-28, 2022-01-12, 2022-01-04, 2021-12-30, 2021-12-07 and 2021-12-04) the list of 2022 Assam public holidays as released in the Government Notification No.GAG(A).81/2016/749 (2021-10-30).
