Chandigarh Declares Martyrdom Day of Bhagat Singh Public Holiday

The Government of India's Union Territory of Chandigarh has declared Wednesday, March 23, 2022, as a public holiday in the Union Territory of Chandigarh, on account of the martyrdom day of Shaheed Bhagat Singh.

As per the aforementioned announcement, "23 March, 2022 (Wednesday) will now be observed as Public Holiday in all the Government Offices/ Boards/ Corporations/ Institutions including Industrial Establishments under the Chandigarh Administration on account of Shaheedi Diwas of S. Bhagat Singh Ji".

The list of 2022 Chandigarh public holidays was announced by the Government of India's Union Territory of Chandigarh, late last year (2021-12-15), in the Government Notification No. 6/l/l-IH(I)-2021/18568 ("List of Holidays in all Government Offices under the Chandigarh Administration, during the calendar year 2022"), and the aforementioned declaration of a public holiday on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, thus amends, the list of 2022.

Note that, earlier today, the Chief Minister of the Indian State of Punjab, Bhagwant Mann, also declared a state public holiday for Wednesday, March 23, 2022, to commemorate the death anniversary of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh (2022-03-22).
