The Honduran Council of Private Enterprise (Cohep), has announced that the upcoming Day of the Americas public holiday, would remain on its traditional set date of April 14, in 2022, and not be moved to Monday, April 18, as many had expected.

The annual Americas' Day Honduras public holiday of Honduras has often been moved to a nearby Monday, when it fell on a mid-week day (2021-04-09, 2020-04-04, 2016-04-06, 2015-04-10, 2015-04-08, 2011-04-12, 2010-04-12, 2009-04-14 and 2009-04-03), as per the terms of the Decreto Ejecutive 50-2003 (2003-04-09).

However, what is rarely understood is that he Decreto Ejecutive 50-2003 states that some annual public holidays of Honduras are moved to the next week, when they fall of a working day ("los días de feriado nacional que cayeren en días laborables"), and not when they fall on a weekday, as is often reported. As April 14, 2022, is already a public holiday due to Maundy Thursday, the provisions of the Decreto Ejecutive 50-2003 do not apply.
