The Indonesian Minister of Religion, Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, has announced that following tonight's Isbat session held at the Ministry of Religion Office has decided that the first day of the month of Shawwal, marking the upcoming Eid Al-Fitr 1443 AH, would be tomorrow ("The Isbat session unanimously determined that 1 Shawwal 1443 H falls on Monday, May 2 2022").

The aforementioned announcement has no concrete effect on the upcoming End of Ramadan public holidays, as the Indonesian government has already approved an amendment to the initially-released list of 2022 public holidays in Indonesia (2021-09-22), leading to an extended period of joint leave for the upcoming Eid Al-Fitr 1443 AH, running from April 29 until May 6 (2022-04-07 and 2022-04-06).

Interestingly, in line with last February's announcement that the Indonesian Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) would use new criteria for determining the hilal at the beginning of the Hijri month, effective in 2022 (2022-02-23), the Ministry of Religion's Hijri Calendar Unification Team has detailed its decision to declare Monday, May 2, 2022, as the first day of the month of Shawwal as follows, "the height of the new moon throughout Indonesia was at a position of 4 degrees 0.59 minutes to 5 degrees 33.57 minutes" while "the geocentric elongation parameter ranges from 5.2 degrees to 7.2 degrees" and thus that the topocentric elongation was "in the range of 4.9 degrees to 6.4 degrees" leading to the conclusion "With these parameters, the position of the new moon in Indonesia currently meets the MABIMS New Criteria".
