Jordanian Prime Minister, Bishr Al-Khasawneh, has issued an official statement announcing that the public holiday for the upcoming 76th independence anniversary of Jordan would be observed by all ministries, official departments, institutions, public bodies, official universities, municipalities, councils of joint services, and the secretariat, on Thursday, May 26, rather than Wednesday, May 25, 2022.

The aforementioned statement goes on to state that "the working hours of Wednesday, May 25th, would end at two o'clock in the afternoon, in order to allow citizens to attend the Kingdom's celebrations on this dear occasion in the various governorates of the Kingdom, which will begin at five in the evening".

Wednesday, May 25, 2022, had been listed as a public holiday on account of the Kingdom's 76th independence anniversary, for the calendar year 2022 (2005-10-02), and earlier this week, a Jordanian government source had announced that it would not be "postponed until Thursday".

Some annual fixed-date Jordanian public holidays are often moved to adjoin a weekend, when they occur in mid-week (2019-04-25, 2019-04-24, 2018-04-22, 2017-04-26, 2015-04-22, 2013-04-19, 2013-01-17, 2012-04-24 and 2006-04-25), though not systematically (2016-05-13, 2016-04-26, 2010-04-27 and 2005-04-25), and almost never for Independence Day (2021-05-16).
