Kenya's Interior Cabinet Secretary, Fred Matiangi, has issued a special gazette notice announcing that the date of the upcoming annual non-working public holiday for Idd-Ul-Fitr (the End of Ramadan) in Kenya would be Tuesday, May 3, 2022.

As often happens (2021-05-05, 2017-08-30, 2016-07-01, 2015-07-10, 2014-07-24, 2013-08-06, 2011-08-19, 2010-09-08 and 2009-09-11), though not systematically (2020-05-20, 2019-06-03, 2018-06-12, 2012-08-13), Kenya has declared its 2022 End of Ramadan public holiday a day later than many of the neighboring Muslim countries, due to a specific clause of the Kenyan Public Holidays Act, which specifies a mathematical rule for the date of the End of Ramadan public holiday in Kenya (2018-06-02).

Note that Monday, May 2, 2022, will also be a public holiday in Kenya due to May 1st falling on a Sunday this year (2022-04-26), and that Friday, April 29, 2022, will be a one-off public holiday coinciding with the state funeral of former President Mwai Kibaki (2022-04-23).

Thus Kenya is getting ready for 5 consecutive days off work.
