Nepal's Ministry of Home Affairs has announced that the government of Nepal had declared Friday, April 1st, 2022, as a public holiday in the Kathmandu Valley on account of Ghode Jatra, also known as the Horse Racing Day.

Today's declaration of Friday, April 1st, 2022, as a public holiday in the Kathmandu Valley on account of Ghode Jatra, is in line with the gazetted list of official non-working public holidays in Nepal for the Nepalese year 2078 (April 2021-April 2022), in which the Gyalpo Lhosar public holiday was limited to the Sherpa ethnic group (2021-04-02).

Contrary to recent public holidays announcements, today's declaration of the Ghode Jatra public holiday does not change its scope from regional to nationwide (2022-03-01, 2022-02-01, 2021-12-29, 2021-12-24 and 2021-12-18).
