The Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) of the Government of Nepal has announced that the Government of Nepal had decided not to declare a public holiday on Tuesday, January 11, 2022, on account of Prithvi Jayanti.
The government of Nepal canceled the Prithvi Jayanti (National Unity Day) public holiday of Poush 27 (January 11), fifteen years ago (2007-01-10), and it was not included in the gazetted list of official non-working public holidays in Nepal for the Nepalese year 2078 (2021-04-02).
Since then, there have been calls to restore this annual public holiday (2010-12-29 and 2017-01-11), and January 11 has on occasion been declared a one-off regional or national public holiday (2018-01-08 and 2021-01-10).
